Introducing Moving On Durham

Moving On Durham are a youth homelessness charity, that helps vulnerable young people to find safe homes. Supporting 16-25 year olds who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness is at the heart of what they do.

We spoke with Rachael Bruce, their Registered Service Manager, about her experience with Clearcare.

Removing outdated systems

When Moving On Durham became Ofsted registered in 2023, the organisation quickly recognised that its existing systems were no longer fit for purpose. 

Increased regulatory expectations meant that documentation, reporting, and support planning needed to be far more detailed and robust, and required a system which could be utilised by multiple departments.

Having realised that a change of system was required, they asked for guidance from their Ofsted inspector. 

Rachael said: ‘We actually asked Ofsted if they could recommend other sites we could use for recording, and they suggested Clearcare. Out of the two systems we looked at, we decided to choose Clearcare’

Making the system their own

One of the key parts of Clearcare is the bespoke nature, allowing you to create your own forms and reports. During Moving On Durham’s implementation process, they used feedback from Ofsted and Rachael mentioned that “we put that into the support plans, created our own quality reviews, and created our own risk assessments. That was brilliant because they are more in depth and it allows our support workers to get more information from the young people”. 

Rachael also highlighted the support of the help centre, highlighting how useful the tool is for their day-to-day routine. “All of the training modules are in there, and we can read through long guides as a refresher. It’s perfect, I don’t think I could ask for anymore.”

Positive feedback from all the staff

The staff at Moving On Durham have adapted to Clearcare and have been incredibly positive.

Rachael commented, “the feedback from the staff has been fantastic. No complaints at all. The staff have fed that back in their PDRs,” adding that Clearcare is ideal for other Supported Accommodation Providers too:

“I strongly recommend Clearcare. It’s going to be a game changer for us. It’s 100% better than the system that we were using. All day long. Everybody has said that.”
